Nuria grew up near Barcelona, later lived in Costa Rica, and now calls California’s Central Coast home. Along the way, she has seen how Spanish changes from one place to another—not only in vocabulary and accent, but in how everyday conversation sounds and flows. In her lessons, students learn to recognize those differences and feel more at ease using Spanish in real situations.

I grew up near Barcelona, but much of what I understand about language came from living elsewhere. When I moved to Costa Rica to study social work, I became more aware of how much communication depends on place, culture, and context.
I started teaching Spanish in 2020 and now live on California’s Central Coast with my husband, Parker, as we prepare to welcome our son, Marc. Along the way, I have spent time in Colombia, Mexico, Panama, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Ecuador, and Brazil. Those experiences have shown me how varied Spanish can be—from the words people choose to the rhythm and tone of everyday conversation.
I speak Spanish, English, and Catalan, and I try to bring that same flexibility to my teaching. I want students to understand the language, but also to feel comfortable using it—asking questions, making mistakes, and finding their own way of speaking.
